Introduction

Intelligent Data Engineering and Applications Laboratory (IDEA Lab) was established in 2004 by Yi-Shih Chen, an assistant professor of Department of Computer Science in National Tsing Hua University. The research issues of IDEA lab include techniques of recommendation systems, the query, retrieval and mining of multimedia. Those research subjects are more inter-disciplinary. The correlated research domains are described as follows:

1. Database: such as the query and retrieval of Stream Data
2. Data mining: such as Association Rules, Outlier Detection and Clustering
3. Internet: such as P2P, Sensor Network and Multicasting
4. Artificial Intelligence: such as neural network, heredity algorithms, Artificial Intelligent Agents, Ontology, Natural Language Processing
5. Web: such as XML, XML Schema, Semantic Web
